Rolex Day-Date from 1976 with the very rare reference 1802. This exceptional collector's item has an exceptional engraved bezel and an original, so-called 'Stella dial' in one of the most sought-after colours, namely Tiffany blue. These coloured 'Stella dials' were used from the early 1970s until the late 1980s, but only in Rolex Day-Date models. Stella dials' come from a different production process than regular Rolex dials. They are based on a kind of lacquer. This is how they get their colour and shine. Hence the name Stella: the American painter Frank Stella, whose colourful works of art are very similar to the dials, gave his name to them. Rolex Day-Dates with Stella dials, and especially with Tiffany-blue dials, have experienced an extreme increase in value in recent years and achieve top prices of €-50,000 upwards in all auctions.
